Car Rental Toronto

Situated 566 feet above sea level on the northern shore of Lake Ontario (part of the Great Lakes system), Toronto is one of the southernmost cities in Canada. In fact, it has the same latitude as northern California.

Home to more than 100 cultures, Toronto truly is the world within a city, with a population of 4.2 million, Toronto is Canada's largest city. Car rental Toronto is an ideal way to travel around this impressive city.

Toronto is the 5th-largest city in North America, after Mexico City, Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago. One-quarter of Canada's population is located within 160 km (100 mi.) of the city.

More than 60% of the population of the United States is within a one-hour flight. As the capital of Ontario, Toronto is the seat of government for Canada's most populous province and is the industrial and business centre for the country.

Driving Advice

Toronto's streets follow a basic grid pattern and are fairly easy to navigate, although some of the one-way streets can be confusing
Visitors from across the pond may have trouble getting used to the fact that North Americans drive on the right-hand side of the road
Speed limit signs are posted on each street
The city's 'rush hour' is more than an hour long - count on heavy traffic from 7:00-9:00 a.m. and again from 4:00-6:00 p.m.
Plenty of Toronto's major streets have bicycle lanes nearest the curb. Please respect cyclists in the city - they're environmentally friendly!
