Lahaina's history as a busy 19th century whaler's town makes it fascinating. These days the streets are jammed with tourists, and the old wooden shops that once housed saloons and provision stores are now crammed with boutiques and galleries. Highlights include the Old Courthouse, built in 1859, now a gallery exhibiting work by Lahaina artists, the Baldwin House, Wo Hing Temple, and Hale Paahao Prison museum.
