Vancouver Introduction - Vancouver Airport Car Rental
Vancouver is Canada's emerald jewel. It's simply a beautiful place to be: From downtown you can see the blue-green
Pacific Ocean, as well as glacial fjords and steep mountains capped with snow and covered in dense old-growth forest.
The other reason we love Vancouver is because of its multicultural flair. The city has long been a home to people from
all over the globe, especially from China and other parts of Asia.
The overall atmosphere is relaxed and outdoorsy, yet cosmopolitan: It's the kind of place where outdoor gear shops
coexist with high-fashion boutiques.
Add in the city's fondness for the arts and its generally health-conscious and laid-back residents, and you've got a
comfortable city that has something for nearly everyone.
Only the persistent drizzle and gray skies of winter and spring keep Vancouver from being a total paradise.
Vancouver Climate - Vancouver Airport Car Rental
Vancouver is favored by the moderating influence of the Pacific Ocean, which gives it mild winters.
Despite being nearly surrounded by mountains, the city itself seldom sees snow, and temperatures average 33-42 F/1-6 C in
the heart of winter.
On the other hand, Vancouver does get plenty of rain and tends toward gray skies October-May. Fortunately, the rain is
often drizzly rather than heavy. Summer temperatures average 80 F/27 C during the day.
Vancouver Transportation - Vancouver Airport Car Rental
Vancouver's compact design makes it an ideal walking city, although public transportation and taxis are both convenient
and easy to use.
You can hail a taxi from the street or catch one at any of the numerous taxi stands. Central neighborhoods and shopping
areas such as Robson Street, Gastown and Chinatown are all within a short stroll of one another.
Even popular Granville Island is only a 15-minute cab ride from downtown, though it's worth noting that some visitors
prefer to use the water taxis that scoot along the shoreline.
